It is crucial that when working out you know the difference between warming up & stretching because both are extremely beneficial to the body
Warming Up
-Prepares the body for the demand placed on your muscles, joints, ligaments, heart and lungs during exercise
-Remember different activities call for different routines:
– exercises include (3-5 min):
-jogging -jumping jacks -arm rotations -leg swings
-biking -jumping rope – ankle bounces
Stretching
-Stretching increases flexibility and the range of motion in your joints
Benefits include:
-Enhanced or maintained physical fitness
-Prevention against torn, pulled, or overall injuries
-Prepares the body for vigorous physical activity
Types of Stretching:
-Static Stretching (No motion)
-Dynamic Stretching (motion)
-Foam Rollling (preformed on a foam roller)
The only stretching you should do before a workout is dynamic stretching (such as leg swings). Once the workout is completed you may preform static stretching (such as toe grabbing).
